MOON TOLD ME (TO WRITE THIS!)

Moon Told MeShe warned me i would forget
if a night went by without remembering
the dreams she dripped into my consciousness
So here it is – a bare white outline page
as old and gray as her ancient round face
pockmarked yet perfect – enough to stare at
for long round nights in a global eye
Circles and spirals define us – we spin
in orbits linked by attractions
that lift all tides and winds together
and kiss the rhythms of oceans
into moonlit depths and dreaming evenings.
I will forget. This too. Yet (each night) – she reminds me
how temporary time rules. Before and afterwards
she reflects – a heat and light in cycles older than us.
This, too, must be forgotten – just in case
our temporary time tuned seasons are seen immortal
and we praise sunlight without reflecting upon solstices
shadows seasonings. Forgetting is the reason
I wrote this.
